Over the Australian summer of 2011/12, I was working on a new band record - the first one in a number of years - when the opportunity came about to go on a National Tour of OZ along side UK guitar master Jon Gomm - WOW!
The band project went on hold and in the space of around three weeks, me and my little solo eklectic piano looping machine, undertook the process of recording Underwater Breathing. It was an enormous amount of fun to make and the process was really fast - at least for me !
Underwater Breathing is basically an album representing the sound of the current live solo set. Touring it around Aussie-Land with His Gommness was a pure delight - thanks Jon ! A-AND - I received a great deal of musical love and encouragement from the many people who came to the shows + got a hold of the album. Thanks to all who have written in, I am feelin the love!
So, it is that we - with an equal measure of musical pleasure - can now make this album officially available here for download Alternatively you can order a CD and if you are really keen, you can get it signed !
The record contains a whole bunch of new songs, and one or two that are reworked for the current eklectic piano configuration.
In particular, some peeps have been asking about the stories behind songs like wonderworld, very bright future and underwater breathing.
So: I will try to post a few little notes about some of the songs + recording them in the blog here A-AND - maybe if I get really excited I might attempt to get in groovy British engineers to push up faders and solo stuff off the multi-track, whilst at the same time delivering witty insights into the inner workings of life in the studio !! ...........Yes.. well....
Thanks everyone! I hope you enjoy the album. I loved making it, and I intend to be playing and recording plenty more - effective immediately.....
